Saw Frank Warren of Post Secret speak on Sunday and it was really cool. Who would ever think that the simple idea of having people mail you their secrets anonymously would be so brilliant and become such a popular and helpful option for people with nobody to talk to? It's weird, because I am a health care professional [well ... almost] and we have talked about this in class but I never really connected this all together before.
We've learned that people who are isolated and don't have somebody to share their important life events and decisions with are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, severe depression, and other mental illnesses. I find it interesting that people need each other so much that without others our bodies lierally start to shut down.
In a strange way, it's kind of a beautiful thing.
